A Dog in the Library?

We had two visitors from Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter for Our Community Reads story time-- Kari and her friend Peanut, an eleven year old Cocker Spaniel! After reading the book Buddy Unchained (Sit! Stay! Read!) by Daisy Bix to the kids, Kari presented some helpful hints about how to safely approach a dog and what to do if an unleashed dog approaches you. The children demonstrated what they had just learned afterward as Peanut got some attention when several members of the audience politely asked Kari, "May I pet your dog?"
